All right, this one’s going to be a bit of a rant.
So I enjoy my Apple watch, um, had the series seven, I believe.
So little late to the game, but, um, one of the things that I had in all my analog watches was a little, you know, date complication, uh, usually either to the left or the right to the center dial and, you know, uh, the watch face that I decided, uh, I can’t remember what it was.
It was, uh, like simple.
I think, um, the one that still looks like an analog watch has a complication.
You can use a digital watch.
You can configure it to whatever you want.
So to the right of the, uh, center, I configured the date complication only to be thoroughly ticked off, uh, I don’t know, three or four times a day when basically at the 15 minute mark when the, uh, minute hand, uh, is pointing to the right, it hides the date complication.
So I look down at my watch, I see, oh, I need to know the date and I can’t find it.
So I have to pull out my fricking phone.
This is a digital hand.
There is no reason that it needs to mask the underlying date complication.
That is an analog artifact.
There’s no reason just like ghost it, make it peer through the minute hand.
Don’t block it.
So anyway, um, after a, uh, unfortunate biking accident, which took a hard spill, um, I proceeded to completely trash my Apple watch seven.
As a replacement, decided to go with an Apple watch ultra basically purely from an aesthetic perspective.
I liked the look of it.
So the default ultra specific version of the basically analog face has four complications.
It has, um, you know, uh, North, South, East, West, right within the center dial.
And it suddenly occurred to me, Hey, I can customize this watch.
I can have two date complications, say one at the 12 o’clock position and one of the six o’clock position.
And I will only be pissed off when I can’t read the date twice a day when it’s at basically 6 PM or 6 AM.
It’s just so stupid why you have a digital artifact.
You can literally make it look however you like.
You are not restricted by physics.
Don’t, don’t, don’t hide the information.
I have to then pull up my phone in order to get the date.
